Thanks to o3, we are a little closer to human intelligence…

On December 20, 2024, OpenAI introduced the o3 model, the successor to o1. This model was the first to approach the concept of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) by generating answers through step-by-step logical reasoning.

AGI refers to a comprehensive and flexible type of intelligence that humans possess, with the ability to learn, solve problems and deal with unknown situations, unlike today’s artificial intelligence systems, which are focused on a specific task.

OpenAI contracted with ARC-AGI to test the capabilities of the developed model to see if it is close to AGI.

What is The ARC-AGI Benchmark?

Developed by Google software engineer François Chollet, ARC-AGI is an assessment system used in AGI research. ARC-AGI is designed to measure a model’s abilities in coding, science, math and logic to gauge how effective it is at new and previously unseen tasks.

Scope:

  • ARC-AGI provides a standardization for measuring how…
